SCHOLARSHIPS
Requirements for All Scholarships
Applicants must be an active member of The Ohio State Organization of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society for at least one year. Applicants must be seeking graduate credit or an educational degree at the respective scholarship’s university. The applicant must meet any additional specifications as set forth by each scholarship and the university.
Required Attachments
All required references must be completed on official letterhead stationery. A digital photo of applicant, appropriate for publication, must accompany each application. PLEASE have these documents available to attach to this application.
Scholarships
Annie Webb Blanton Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1946. It honors the first President of Delta Kappa Gamma, the first female State Superintendent of Education in Texas, and the first female to be elected president of the Texas State Teachers Association. It provides stipends for graduate study in education at any accredited university. The amount of this award varies.
Florence L. Woodward Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2019 for graduate study in education at Kent State University from a generous gift endowed by Mrs. Woodward. Mrs. Woodward dedicated more than 55 years of service to Gamma Iota Chapter and Ohio State Organization, serving as State President from 1991-1993. The amount of this award varies.
Margaret L. White Scholarship
This scholarship was established at The Ohio State University in 1943. It is named for the first President and Executive Secretary of Alpha Delta State (aka Ohio State Organization) who was a student of Annie Webb Blanton. A supervisor of English in the Cleveland Schools, she was installed as State President by Annie Webb Blanton and served from 1938-1940. This scholarship is offered to any member of the Ohio State Organization of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society seeking graduate credit at The Ohio State University. The applicant must follow specifications and requirements as set forth and agreed to by The Ohio State University.
Ruth Grimes Scholarship
This scholarship was established at Miami University, Oxford, in 1951. It is named for Ruth Grimes, who was a dedicated Treasurer of Alpha Delta State from 1942 - 1951. She was recognized by the Ohio Senate as an exceptional educator. This scholarship provides graduate credit for OSO members in education. If no members meet the criteria of OSO and The Delta Kappa Gamma Society, OSO will provide a list of Esther H. Strickland Student Teaching Grant applicants to Miami University for review and selection by the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Awards from the Margaret L. White and the Ruth Grimes Scholarships are funded directly by the Universities. The Scholarship Chairman works with the University representatives to ensure necessary paperwork is received.

Requirements of Recipients
- Applications are due February 1. Announcement of awards is made at the ADSOEF Annual Meeting. Recipients may use their awards no earlier than the summer term after the ADSOEF annual meeting.
- Within thirty (30) days following the completion of the study, the recipient shall prepare and send to the Scholarship Committee Chairman an article suitable for publication describing the study and how it benefits students and education.
- Failure to comply with these requirements shall hinder future requests.
